Winter Warrior Challenge

Great opportunity to start 2017 off on a healthy note!  Sign up with Tammy at the David Biggar Memorial Interpretive Centre at Trout River Natural Area, 36927 Hwy #2, Carleton and track the amount of kms you snowshoe on the trail during the month of January for a chance to win a new pair of snowshoes!    Moonlight Snowshoe Excursions

Enjoy the beauty of the full moon as you snowshoe from 7-9pm on Trout River Trail, 36927 Hwy #2 in Carleton.  There will be a campfire, free hot chocolate and snowshoes available to use. All ages are welcome, please bring your own flashlight.  For more information contact Alison at or 859-8856.  Dates are:

                                                     Snowshoeing at Trout River Natural Area

The 8km (round trip) trail is open to use at your own risk anytime for hiking, snowshoeing or skiing! The David Biggar Memorial Interpretive Centre will be open Wednesday-Sunday from 10am-6pm with snowshoes to use free of charge.  You won't regret taking the time to enjoy this trail 36927 Hwy #2, Carleton, call 859-1552 for more information.


Try Archery at Hernewood

Want to try something new or enhance your archery skills? Join us for weekly drop-in sessions on Thursdays starting January 12:
7:30 - 8:15pm - beginners
8:15-9:00pm - experienced archers
Cost is $2/person, $5/family.  Must be 12 years or older, all abilities and skill levels welcome.  Contact Alison at or 859-8856 for more information.

Try Geocaching

Geocaching is a free real-world outdoor treasure hunt and we are providing you with an opportunity to try it with experienced geocachers.  Anyone is welcome to join the group (children under 12 MUST be accompanied by an adult) Group meets at 1pm:

Tyne Valley Winter Carnival
In partnership with the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival Committee, we are assisting with the following events during their Winter Carnvial:
Feb. 11 - Soccer-Baseball in the Snow at Ellerslie Elementary from 1:30-4:30
Feb. 11 - Moonlight Snowshoe Excursion at Green Park starting at 6:30pm
Feb. 12 - Skating at Tyne Valley Dam from 5:30-7pm

Evangeline Snowshoe Excursion
In partnership with Evangeline Winter Carnival we will be offering a guided snowshoe excursion from 12:30-2:30pm on Saturday, February 18.  Snowshoes are available to use free of charge.  Group will be at the Evangeline ATV Club at 1007 chemin Cannontown, Mont-Carmel.  For more information please contact Toni at or 902-859-8856.
